Giller Prize
The Scotiabank's Giller Prize for literature was awarded this year to author Joseph Boyden for Through Black Spruce. The Giller is Canada's premier prize for literature and is in its 15th year. Boyden's book or any of the other nominees would make excellent reads. Read about them online and check them out at our Library.
Scholastic Book Club for Teens
Remember that great book club from elementary school? Well now they exist for teens! Get great deals on the latest and greatest books. New catalogues and order forms for the months of November and December are available in the Library. Orders are due Monday, December, 15. Please make cheques payable to Scholastic
PARENT HANDBOOK
Last year's SCC applied for a Parent Reaching Out Grant from the MInistry of Education to create a resource of pertinent information for the parents and guardians of students at Ajax High School. This invaluable resource contains the essential information of the Student Agenda, but also an informative FAQs section in one easily referenced handbook.
The handbook was distributed to all grade 9 students on the first day of school. Extra copies are available in the office and will be made available at the Grade 9 Parents Night, September 16.

SCC Meeting Dates Changed
All School Community Council meeting dates have changed from the originally published dates in the agenda. Thay will now occur on Tuesday night instead of Wednesday night.

Durham Transit bus passes will be available for purchase in the main office from 11:55 until 12:20. The cost of a pass in now $45.00 for one month.
